Giving back. Some of you know about my donations to collegiate journalism scholarships… It’s time to give again!
“In these times of fake news and erosion of fact checking, real journalism is ever so important to support,” I say…
Collectors have this opportunity to see my new art, during the Spectrum Art Fair this December 5th through 9th in Miami, Florida.
My use of typewriter keys for this abbreviated form of typewriter poetry triggers the viewer to consider the memory and honesty of the old fashioned typewriter. This art comments on digital media and the by-gone standards of publishing, advertising and photography.
The double meaning of the title of this collection, KeyWords, calls our attention to the digital meaning in contrast to the typewriter, which was the original tool of 20th century writers.
The deeper meaning of KeyWords is the root of our analog and digital lives; our integrity, ethics and precepts. So most of the statements are positive mediative concepts, kernels of wisdom and fundamentals of humanity.
Twenty-five percent of the sales of LA Marler artwork at Spectrum is being donated to journalism scholarships through the Jim Murray Memorial Foundation. Linda Murray Hofmans states, “JMMF is grateful to Louise Marler, who generously donates her creative work to fund our J-school grant that educates future reporters.”
KeyWords artwork is designed to restore consciousness and participation in our culture and encourages collecting art for pleasure and enlightenment. I am a digital fine arts pioneer and trendsetter, having parlayed my successful commercial graphic design into new art at the turn of the 21st century. I was the first to create a pop style art form of antique typewriters which became a movement.
This exhibit will feature artworks such as:
• Now is a Virtue – It’s an original blend of the adage, “Patience is a virtue,” and the Eckart Tolle’s bestseller, “The Power of Now.”
• Luv Trumps All – Is arguably about the love. However, due to our current President, this statement is distorted by perception!
• Live Intuitively – Beckons our use of natural instincts as a valid sense.
• Keys to Success – Is one of the work famous art pieces of TypOwriters created as inspirational art for writers. It is also an acknowledgment to women who entered the business offices through typing.
• Ghost Writer – The seemingly simple negative image surrounded by black is a beautiful comment about how ghost writing has become a larger industry through the internet.
• Meme – Four individual letters spell “meme,” the redundant or viral repetition which a symbol of internet success. This piece is a funny concept to contemplate statically.
