Photo-based collage, mixed media, framedI’ve expanded my review of mass media, cultural tools—analog technology. “These nostalgic machines are part of my personal history, vessels of communication, and thus naturally led to becoming part of the subject matter of my imagery.” In my photo-based mixed media, I illustrate my admiration of these symbolic machines. The typewriters and the ‘Keyword’ configurations, as in the previous works, begin a conversation about the transition from an older technology to the present days. The mid-century vintage cameras and radios also displayed in this exhibition are used in my narration that reveals the shift in story-telling of news and entertainment. It’s a comment on the significance of communication (and words) in analog media. This exhibit questions the media and machines leading up to now, the digital age.
